This Week the Trend | March 8

What’s this you ask? Not your average blog post, because I’m starting a new column! Every Friday I’m going to post about what I’ve been up to that week, what music I have on repeat and what books I’m reading. It might bore you silly, or you may find something awesome to watch/read/listen to explore. I’ll even throw in some cute puppy memes for good measure. So let’s give this a go, shall we? I present to you (insert imaginary drum roll)

This week the trend…*

In music:

A Better Word by Bethany Barnard

I loved Bethany when I was a teenager, and was so excited when she announced a new project under her married name. I don’t find A Better Word as iconic as her old music because I don’t relate to it as much (mainly because she writes about motherhood, and I’m not a mum yet). It’s still beautiful and well worth the 10-year wait though!

In books:

The Broken Way by Ann Voskamp

Full disclosure, I’m reading this for a review, but I’m three chapters in and this is one of the most unique books I’ve ever read. Written like a train of thought, but sprinkled with symbolism and filled with stories and scriptures, A Broken Way is unrelentingly honest about our own deep (and often hidden) brokeness. It’s simultaneously challenging and beautiful—I can’t wait to read more.

On TV:

This is Us

Milo Ventimiglia finally gives us the closure we need after the Gilmore Girls revival and every episode makes my head explode with questions. So good.

My Kitchen Rules

I know I should have better taste than this, really I do. But Survivor doesn’t start until Thursday, so I need my reality fix somehow.

Veggie Tales in the City

A new series is on Netflix and I have no shame.

In podcasts:

RELEVANT

I’ve been listening to the RELEVANT podcast on my drives to and from Melbourne, and find it entertaining, hilarious and informative. Since mixing culture with Christianity is sort of my career, listening to this is a good start.

On Instagram:

TWLOHA shared a pic of actress Susie Abromeit in her ‘Enough’ sweatpants which are based on my blog!

In puppy pics:

Doug the pug and pink blossoms. My heart.

In writing:

I need to update my blog with my latest work, but this week I posted interviews with:

Hillsong UNITED
Olympic swimmer Mack Horton
Hamish and Andy
Project Semicolon’s Amy Bleuel
Michelle Davies-Kildea
Andino the magician

That’s about it for this week. What are you loving at the moment? Let me know in the comments so I can check it out.

Reviews are also going up soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

*Obviously a reference to Relient K, but why mess with success?
