Six albums to get you in the holiday spirit

It is officially November, the smell of fall is in the air and your local Starbucks barista has given you your first red cup of the season. What’s more, it is now socially acceptable to play your favorite holiday tunes. Here are 6 awesome Christmas albums to help you get into the holiday spirit this year.

Michael Bublé Christmas: Don’t settle for a mediocre Christmas album. Instead, listen to this fan favorite by Michael Bublé. This 2012 release carries the class of an old school string and brass section, with the catchy delivery of some of your favorite Christmas carols. When I listen to this album, I can almost smell the pine of the Christmas tree.

Hillsong Young and Free Noel: I’m pre-empting this release, but the newest addition to the Hillsong family are recording some holiday tunes to grace our ears this Christmas. If their début We Are Young and Free is anything to go by, this release is going to be fresh, new and rad.

Relient K Let It Snow Baby… Let It Reindeer: While arguments could be given for Relient K’s first seasonal album, Deck The Halls, Bruise Your Hand, I’m sticking with this quirky, tongue in cheek ode to the holidays. Not only does it have the coolest pop/punk version of “Angels We Have Heard On High” you’ve ever heard, but it gives us the heart wrenching, “I Hate Christmas Parties” and the stirring, “In Like A Lion (Always Winter).”

Casting Crowns Peace On Earth: This seven piece are terrific at delivering songs that make you feel deeply, and their Christmas offering is no different. For a pivotal and poignant take on the holiday season, check out this beautiful and powerful album.

Taylor Swift The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection: if you’re still riding the 1989 train, you’ll love this classic T-Swift album. Filled with tracks about Christmas trees, the meaning of the holidays and heartbreak, this sweet EP is definitely a winner.

Francesca Battistelli Christmas: For a soulful and fun take on some your favorites, plus new additions like, “Heaven Everywhere,” you’ll love Francesca’s 2013 release. Driven largely by her distinctive and emotive vocals, this is a very different, but still cool, take on the holiday season. Plus if you prefer live recordings, there’s also a Live In Nashville version of the album, so everybody wins!
