Aussie electro-pop outfit AIRPORTS took off in 2013 with the release of their single Stellar. Reaching #2 on the Electro charts and #10 Overall on renowned radio countdown Triple J Unearthed, the boys have continued to make their mark on the music scene with their latest offering, Somewhere Else. Comprising of Sydney based front man Aaron Lee, better known for his work as Northie where he has remixed tunes for the likes of artists like New Empire and Losty; and Brisbane based drummer and guitarist Nathan Moss, the duo are sure to gain fans and take them ‘somewhere else’ with their catchy new single.

Hooking listeners in with their synth and electro melody, Somewhere Else immediately draws you to Lee’s truthful and exciting vocals, communicating the journey you will be taken on throughout the track. Opening with the lyrics, “Paint your Winter heart, Summer’s overhead,” AIRPORTS invite you to honestly assess the spiritual wellbeing of your own heart, showcasing a vulnerability present throughout the rest of the song. As they approach the chorus, there is a sense that the duo is communicating a sincere message from the Lord’s heart as Lee sings, “Before your heart dies, just let me bring you back to life.”

Climaxing at the chorus, Somewhere Else becomes a youthful anthem, encouraging us to “set this town alight” with the fire and love of the Spirit. With remnants of Northie’s trademark mesh of vocals, beats and synth, the melody compels you to dance and takes you to another place of freedom and courage.

With their poetic lyrics, AIRPORTS communicates the simple message that there is hope, and this desire and ‘destination’ is fulfilled in Christ. Bridging the gap between the Christian and secular markets, Lee and Moss share the truth of the gospel in a relevant and catchy manner while keeping a musical integrity throughout the track. With vocal hints of Adam Young (Owl City) and Matthew Thiessen (Relient K), AIRPORTS mesh their pop sensibilities with an honesty that makes Somewhere Else a message of hope to a generation seeking fulfilment in a myriad of other places.

With the release of their debut album later this year, fans can purchase Somewhere Else now and garner a taste for the talent and fun of Airports before these boys fly away to become a big name on the music scene.
