Celebs celebrate Salvos’ Donut Day in SA

Celebrities have gathered in Adelaide to kick-start The Red Shield Appeal by celebrating The Salvation Army’s Annual Donut Day.

Held under the Gawler Place canopy in Rundle Mall, 50 celebs teamed up to decorate donuts, including My Kitchen Rules contestants Tim and Kyle, Kate and Harry from House Rules and Nova breakfast team Lewis & Lowe, along with Hayley Pearson, Rebecca Morse, Kate Freebairn and Nick Butler (Ten’s Eyewitness News), Will McDonald (Nine News), and previous winner of My Kitchen Rules Bree May.

Raising awareness for the appeal which runs from May 27–28, Salvo mascot Shieldy joined the stars, encouraging the public to donate using the tap and go machines being trialed across the country.

The Salvation Army in South Australia aims to collect $710,000 over the next few weeks, contributing to the national goal of $8 million.

“We had great local news coverage to help create awareness in South Australia about the Red Shield Appeal and we were also able to underpin the ESIS report,” said Divisional Community Fundraising Coordinator Duan Kereru.

“There were heaps of happy smiling faces and we had a great day.”
